What drew you to Booost?

Rory Matthews

What drew me to Booost Education is its mission – it’s something I really connect with. Most of us have had our moments, especially in those formative years transitioning from college into university, and then into our first full-time jobs, where we’ve struggled to balance everything and stay on top of things.

For neurodivergent students, those challenges can be even greater, and what’s often missing is simple but powerful: good foundations and the right support. Seeing how Booost provides that, and the impact it already has for thousands of students, got me really excited about the chance to be part of it and help support thousands more. I also really like that the team combines genuine expertise with a passion for making a difference – it’s a fantastic group to be working with.

When did you know you wanted to work in your field?

Rory Matthews

Early on in my career I worked for a charity in fundraising, and it gave me the chance to try a lot of different things – from operations to planning events. But what I really loved were the conversations with people. Talking passionately about the work the charity did and inspiring them to commit to supporting it came naturally to me. It wasn’t just about raising money, it was about empowering people to make a difference for others. That experience is what kick-started my career in sales.

Where are you located?

Rory Matthews

I grew up in quite a rural place, and after university I gave London a try, but it didn’t really work for me. So here I am in Bristol – and I absolutely love it. It’s got the buzz of a big city but with a country-village energy, and the countryside is right on your doorstep with Wales, Somerset, and Devon all so close. It’s a really great place to live.

What does your perfect weekend look like?

Rory Matthews

The perfect weekend definitely involves lots of food. I love cooking – it’s one of the best ways for me to relax – so I’d kick things off with a good brunch, probably something like eggs benedict. We’ve got a little dog called Mushu, so there’d be plenty of walks, and I’d make time to catch up with friends, maybe over some board games. And since it’s winter right now, finishing up in a pub with a cosy fire and a roast dinner would be absolutely perfect.

Best trip you've been on and why?

Rory Matthews

That’s a tough one, but I think the best trip I’ve been on was when my partner and I travelled to Australia and New Zealand to visit friends. We spent a couple of weeks in each, exploring Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road, then heading over to Queenstown where we climbed mountains, swam in lakes, and went on some amazing adventures. We finished up in Sydney, doing all the classic tourist things – from boat trips to a show at the Opera House, plus plenty of dim sum. It was a real adventure, and I feel really grateful that we had the chance to do it.
